You Are Here

Navigating Your Life’s Journey with Faith and Wisdom

Lesson Notes

Introduction: The Power of Knowing Where You Are

- Imagine walking into a massive mall to find a specific store but not knowing where it is.

- The first step to getting to your destination is finding the "You Are Here" marker on the map.

- The same principle applies in life: Without knowing where you are spiritually, mentally, or emotionally, you cannot correctly apply the principles that will get you where God is calling you.

I. Identifying Your "You Are Here" Moment

"Let us examine and probe our ways, and let us return to the LORD." — Lamentations 3:40 NASB

- Many men struggle with navigating life’s challenges because they do not assess where they currently stand.

- The "You Are Here" moment in life is when you recognize where you are—spiritually, financially, relationally, or professionally.

- Self-awareness allows for strategic alignment with God’s direction.

What areas of my life require a reality check?

II. The Power of Instruction: Learning from the Map

Key Scripture: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee." — Hosea 4:6 KJV

Just as a mall directory provides a path to a store, God provides divine wisdom and mentors to guide you.

*Are you rejecting divine wisdom because you think you know better?

III. Overcoming the Barriers That Keep You Stuck

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time." — 1 Peter 5:6 KJV

Sometimes, men reject wisdom due to three key character flaws:

Arrogance:

- Thinking you don’t need help.

- Overestimating your abilities and ignoring guidance.

"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall." — Proverbs 16:18 KJV

Disrespect:

- Not valuing the experience or wisdom of others.

- Underestimating the mentors God has placed in your life.

"Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety." — Proverbs 11:14 NKJV

Condescension:

- Viewing tasks or assignments as if they are beneath you.

- Thinking you can achieve results your own way, ignoring divine order.

- "Obey those who rule over you and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls." — Hebrews 13:17 NKJV

IV. Making the Necessary Adjustments to Move Forward

"A faithful man shall abound with blessings." — Proverbs 28:20 KJV

*To get to where God is leading you, you must make character adjustments:

The Confidence Adjustment – Trust God’s plan and process.

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it." — Philippians 1:6 KJV

- Consistency Adjustment – Follow God’s principles and remain faithful.

"A faithful man shall abound with blessings." — Proverbs 28:20 KJV

- Compassion Adjustment – Avoid being critical of those who serve with you.

"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged." — Luke 6:37 KJV

- Compliance Adjustment – Serve with the vision of God and your leaders in mind.

"Where there is no vision, the people perish." — Proverbs 29:18 KJV

- Courage Adjustment – Step up to challenges with boldness.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you." — Joshua 1:9 ERV

V. Applying the Map: Walking in Faith and Obedience

"We have all these great people around us as examples. Their lives tell us what faith means." — Hebrews 12:1 ERV

*Following the “Divine Map" requires discipline, humility, and trust in God's direction.

What small adjustments can I make today to align with God's will?

"Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise." — Ephesians 5:15-17 AMP

- Your "You Are Here" moment is not a place of shame, but of revelation.

- When you recognize where you are, you can start making the right moves to where God is leading you.

Getting On the Right Track

2. Seek wisdom from godly mentors.

Faith Confession: "I Am Aligned and Advancing"

Father, I thank You that You have positioned me for purpose. I declare that I am here in this moment by divine appointment, and I fully trust Your plan for my life. I recognize where I am, and I embrace the wisdom, guidance, and correction needed to move forward.

I surrender my pride, lay aside my own way of thinking, and humble myself under Your mighty hand. I am not lost, confused, or without direction—I have clarity, I have wisdom, and I have favor.

I confidently follow the instructions You place before me, and I refuse to reject wisdom. I honor the mentors and leaders You have assigned to help me. My steps are ordered, and I am obedient to the path You have set for me.  I am not stuck. I am not behind. I am in the right place, at the right time, with the right mindset. I am advancing with faith, wisdom, and divine direction. My future is secure, my purpose is clear, and my victory is certain.

In Jesus' name, Amen!
